This all started as a passion project. I love golf. I love trying to improve at golf and challenging myself. That’s probably how you got here. Reading this newsletter or having downloaded Tangent.

I started this effort with complex scorecards and Perl scripts that I used to manually track every golf shot I hit back in 2014. I graduated to my first stab at an app in 2015 and here we are in 2025. I just passed 500 rounds that I have tracked in Tangent. I started building this selfishly to play better golf myself and it worked. We finally put together a quick video explaining our story and our mission. It’d be awesome if you checked it out and let us know what you think. We love that you are part of our story.

I get to hear Tangent users pretty much daily who are on their own journey. Getting to scratch, making a high school golf team, winning tournaments, competing in net club championships, you name it. Golfers of all skill levels are improving with Tangent. I’m truly grateful for every one of you that has joined us on this journey to better golf and I can’t wait to build more stories. After all, I’m still grinding away. I want to get to a +4 in the next 2 years.

Another reason I love golf… meeting new people. Golf has introduced me to some of my favorite people in the world, including Gerry Carry. Recently, thanks to Beyond Golf Tours I was able to go on a bucket list trip to Ireland. We played 7 rounds in 7 days including stops at Royal Portrush, Ballyliffin, Portstewart, and Jameson Golf Links at Portmarnock.

If the weather was unbelievable… the golf was even better. We were blessed with 7 days of sub 10mph winds and sunshine. It definitely didn’t feel like the Ireland golf you get to see on TV, but we soaked up every minute and got some unbelievable footage. Truly a bucket list trip. The first footage of the trip is just now hitting The Good Miss.
