What is your favorite golf content?

I remember the first time I saw Garrett Clark on YouTube. My buddy told me about GM Golf on YouTube shortly after the Covid epidemic started in 2020. At that point in time it was just Garrett playing weekly matches against his cousin Micah Morris and had just tens of thousands of subscribers. Two dudes with a handheld camera playing a weekly match.

That year GM__Golf exploded and before long Garrett formed Good Good. Now you can’t go anywhere without seeing ‘Good’ hats. I thought it was crazy when Good Good signed an 8 figure deal with Callaway and it’s even crazier that they just raised $45M to continue to grow their brand. Wild stuff. If you’re not watching YouTube golf, you’re missing out on some good content and a more intimate experience. Good Good may not be my personal taste, but there is something for everyone from Bob Does Sports to No Laying Up to Bryson DeChambeau. Thats right, even the pro golfers are adopting social media to grow their presence and engage golf fans differently. Phil Mickelson recently joined Grant Horvat to do a series of matches against popular golfers. It’s wild stuff.

The PGA Tour has gotten in on the action investing in the Creator Classic where they recently invited a dozen of golf’s biggest content creators to play at TPC Sawgrass before The Players Championship in the second rendition of the classic. While I don’t think they quite get the format right, it is improving and it shows that the PGA Tour sees where golf is going. The format needs to lean more into the content creators. They are best when they are mic’ed up and edited. Live golf in a professional environment is not as interesting… However, it still gave us moments like Fat Perez making the ‘Better than most’ putt made famous by Tiger Woods.

Whether you like it or not, the numbers are unavoidable. YouTube Golf is getting more views than professional golf and the industry will continue to invest that way and so will TANGENT and The Good Miss.

Building a Community in TANGENT

Golf is better with friends and it’s better with a community of like-minded golfers that can’t get enough of this stupid game. So if you’ve noticed in the recent app updates, we’re beefing up the community section in TANGENT. From the improved Community Section on the Home Page to the Community Tab in the app.

In the Community Tab, you can invite friends to join you on the app. If you enable notifications, you’ll get notified when they are on the course.

In the Creators tab of Community, you can find TANGENT creators to follow. You can follow me or Adam Young. You’ll see links to our socials if you want to get really deep, or follow us in the app.

Following a creator in TANGENT means you’ll get notifications when they are playing You can follow along and follow their golf or live vicariously through your creators or your friends. Full scorecards and PGA Tour level tracking of how they are playing.

Better yet, you can see their full stats and even compare your TANGENT data to theirs to see how you stack up. I have some work to do to catch up to Adam Young.
