Golf is complicated, your golf app shouldn't be.

We heard you. Golf is complicated enough, we all need less to think about while on the golf course. Thats why in the latest TANGENT Golf update we've simplified. Somehow we managed to improve features while making the TANGENT Golf more streamlined and easier to use.

In partnership with

This week TANGENT was spotted in Argentina at the Korn Ferry tour stop.

TANGENT Golf gets an overhaul

We pride ourselves on listening to user feedback and working to make TANGENT Golf the best golf app available. We’re golfers too and the last thing we want is to be distracted on those all too few days we get escape to the golf course.

The biggest feedback we have consistently gotten over the last year is that the app is great, feature rich… but a lot… and at times confusing.

Our goal is to be there when you need us, but in the background when you don’t.

Need a quick distance? We got you.
Need a club suggestion? A target suggestion? We got you.
Just want to play golf and forget we exist while we track all your advanced stats in the background? We got you.

But for some, we have been falling short of our goals.

So we went to the drawing board, we tried to identify areas to improve and got after it. Here is a list of the upgrades that are part of v3.0.3 in no particular order:

We could not be more excited about the improvements we’ve just released and we’re not done. We just did not want to make you wait any longer for the improved app experience. We’ll cover features in detail in these newsletters so you don’t miss all that TANGENT can do to help you play better golf, starting with the new on-course UI.

The above should be pretty self explanatory, but the big highlights…

Dedicated button to close the round! You’d be surprised how often this is requested.

Flag button is more obvious, tap to zoom into the green and easily move the pin location.

All shot functions have been consolidated to the Shot Menu. If score has not been entered for the hole, you’ll have the option to manually add a shot, or to enter score for the hole. Once a score has been added, this will take you to the edit flow to get the shots just right by walking you through each shot individually.

Tapping on the screen brings up a moveable target. Simply long press and drag the target to move it, or drag the map around to move the target.

On the left you’ll see Caddie adjusted yardages and club suggestions to the target AND from the target to the pin.

On the right you’ll see the ‘Strokes Gained’ value for hitting that target. This is Strokes Gained relative to a Tour Pro, but it gives you an idea of the quantifiable difference between certain targets (for example 280 yards in the fairway versus the rough). Positive numbers are good. Negative numbers are bad.

The Expected landing zone is no longer a simple yellow arc. Now it is a more intuitive box that shows the most probable area that a shot would land if you attempted to hit the current target. In other words… If you aim at the target, the ball is likely to end up ANYWHERE in the box. So make sure the placement of the target eliminates hazards you want to avoid.

Over the next few newsletters we will cover the new features in detail. v3.0.4 is staged to roll out to all users over the next week, but if you want to download it now click here and click the download button.

Let us know what features you want to see next and which of these are your favorites.

Let’s improve together.
