I have a confession to make. When I started developing Tangent… my intent was to NOT use it. I wanted a background game tracker. I wanted to start the app, put it away, and focus on golf.

I wasn’t even a GPS guy. I relied heavily on my laser. I wanted shot tracking and stats, but on the golf course… I wanted to focus on golf. A big part of why I love this sport is to unplug from my phone. To escape the emails, messages, and scrolling that dominates our lives.

That goal is at the core of Tangent. You can use it as little (or as much) as you want. It’s there when you need it for a quick distance or club suggestion… but it happily runs in the background, silently tracking all your golf data, when you don’t need it.

A flexible platform that fits with any golfer’s flow. The only thing we ask to get the most out of the platform is to enter your scores after each hole (or after the round).

We don’t add any features unless we think they add to the golf experience. Luckily, we have lots of ways to add. I still use my laser to dial in the pin in Tangent (we would like to make that obsolete in the future), but I am constantly taking advantage of newer Tangent features… I just make sure to put my phone in Do Not Disturb on the course. :)
